Shamatha & Vipasyana Meditation

In Buddhism, the path to awakening is through meditation. Calm-abiding meditation (shamatha / shinay) helps develop mental peace and stability. Insight meditation (vipasyana / lhaktong) helps examine and experience mind’s true nature, free of confusion and veils. Join us for this special live broadcast as Shangpa Rinpoche leads us in an examination of these profound meditation practices.

About The Venerable Shangpa Rinpoche:

Born in 1960 near the border between Tibet and Nepal, Rinpoche was recognized at age two as an incarnation of the great yogi, Shangpa Rinpoche, by H.H. the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje. In 1976, Rinpoche was appointed Abbot of the Jangchub Choeling Monastery in Pokhara, Nepal, and in 1982, the 14th Shamar Rinpoche requested he oversee the Karma Kagyu Buddhist Center of Singapore. An important teacher in the Kagyu lineage, we are honored to have him teach at Bodhi Path. More biographical information of Rinpoche is available at the Bodhi Path website.
