About the Center
The Bodhi Path Buddhist Center of Chicago is part of an international network of Buddhist Centers founded by Shamar Rinpoche. The center is dedicated to offering high quality instruction in meditation and Buddhist philosophy.
Bodhi Path Chicago opened in February 2007 to teach Buddhist philosophy and meditation to all who are interested. Weekly events are held online, with quarterly live retreats and teaching programs hosted at various locations on the north side of Chicago.
The center offers programs ranging from information for the curious to instruction and support for the advanced meditator. This includes weekly seminars by our resident teacher, an evening book discussion group, as well as special programs by teachers from around the world. Please see our schedule of events for updates on day-to-day activities.
Meditation instruction is available. All are welcome.
Lama Yeshe Drolma has shared her warmth, wisdom and meditation experience with the Vineyard sangha for 2 decades. After meeting Shamar Rinpoche in Germany in 1986, she has dedicated her life to Buddhist practice and study. From 1989 until 2000 Yeshe Drolma was in retreat, including the traditional 3-year retreat guided by Gendun Rinpoche. She was then invited to the United States to help develop the Bodhi Path Buddhist Center in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, and she has been very successful in creating a bridge to meditation and the Buddha’s teachings for many visitors to our center.
