Participating in the 8 Stupas Project
Seed funding provided by a long-time Asian student and visionary donor of Shamar Rinpoche has activated the dormant wish of Rinpoche to manifest the 8 stupas (traditional reliquary structures representing enlightened mind) in the United States.
The activity radiating out from the initiation of the project has sent ripples across the globe as artisans and stone cutters in Europe are creating the structure and ornamentation of the 8 stupas, designed to represent 8 distinct events in the life of Buddha Shakyamuni.
There are many ways to participate in the meritorious actions of helping to bring the 8 stupas into being. We will have the fortunate circumstance to be able to assist in creating the precious objects that will be placed inside each stupa before being sealed and consecrated. Hundreds of small tsa tsas will be cast and thousands of mantra rolls will be rolled by members of our congregation as well as those at other Bodhi Path centers.
To kick off the creative efforts, we will be conducting two workshops in March to impart the skills necessary to make plaster casts and roll sheets of mantras into tight cylinders. After learning the proper techniques and prerequisites, participants can use the workshop space on-site to cast tsa tsas and roll mantras on their own time in March and April. All are welcome to attend.
