Introduction: “Refining the Mind: The Transformative Process of Buddhism”(DC Metro Center)

June 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

USA-Eastern, All Americas

According to the Buddhist tradition, each of us is already a Buddha. If this is so, then why do we continue to experience dissatisfaction? What are the mental processes that cut us off from our profound nature?

Jigme Rinpoche describes the mechanisms that are at work—often without our knowing—in an approachable way.

This sincere look at our situation allows us to identify the patterns that keep us trapped in a painful and alienating way of functioning. He also considers what we can apply—like meditation, kindness, and compassion—to create new habits at the heart of our daily lives based on a Buddhist approach.

 Background:

Lama Jigme Rinpoche was born in Kham, Western Tibet, in 1949. He grew up and was educated with the principal teachers in the Kagyü lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. In 1977, during a visit to Europe, the 16th Karmapa designated Dhagpo Kagyu Ling, in Dordogne, France, the seat of his European activity and named Lama Jigme Rinpoche his official representative and the spiritual director of the center. Since then, Lama Jigme Rinpoche has fulfilled this role and shared the Buddha’ s teachings in France and throughout the world.
