Bodhi Path was established on Martha’s Vineyard on September 11, 1999, and tonight from 6-7 pm we will continue this month’s celebration of our 25th Anniversary with a tribute to founder Shamar Rinpoche. We will feature a few clips of Rinpoche’s teachings and share some photos from over the past 25 years.
Two of Rinpoche’s students told him that they thought Martha’s Vineyard would be a great place to start a center, and Rinpoche agreed. What good fortune for Martha’s Vineyard! It is due to Rinpoche’s vision, generosity, and kindness that the center exists today.
Shamar Rinpoche, who passed away in 2014, was the 14th Shamarpa. The Sharmapa or “Red Hat Lama of Tibet” is Tibetan Buddhism’s second oldest reincarnate lineage after the Karmapa’s lineage. Rinpoche started the Bodhi Path, an international organization of Buddhist centers in the mid 90’s. There are centers in the US, Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
