The Tilopa Institute was established to maintain and spread the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni in an authentic and complete way. Here, the aim is to provide Buddhists with a continued opportunity to practice, and to further knowledge and insight that will be passed on to the next generation of practitioners.

The institute consists of two seperate entities; a Dharma school and a monastery complex.

  • Continuing for several years, 60 students from the age of 12 up will be given the fundamentals, which they will need as future Dharma teachers and translators.
  • The monastery (a completely separate area), will house about 40 young monks, who will be educated in the different practices of meditation and rituals according to the Karma Kagyu Tradition.

Retreat guests live together with the monks in the monastery, where they are part of the Buddhist community. But of course, there are many possibilities to meet and be in contact with the students of the neighbour building.
